CORAL SPIRAL CITY - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

In this submerged ascent, Coral Spiral City turns an imagined metropolis into a passage toward release. Its narrow structures gather around a distant opening, as though the city were less a place of arrival than a current drawing everything upward. Darkness remains close, but it does not overcome the sense of direction.

The surrounding coral forms complicate that movement. They suggest a world shaped by growth rather than command, where architecture and reef belong to the same living order. Between the rising forms, small fish-like figures drift without urgency, lending the scene a calm that feels discovered rather than imposed.

A warm radiance near the upper center gives the ascent its emotional tension. It could be dawn seen through deep water, or an inward clarity glimpsed beyond a crowded realm. The glow never fully explains itself; its uncertainty keeps the scene suspended between sanctuary and mystery.

What endures is the painting’s balance between grandeur and peace. The towering forms create a dramatic scale, yet the underwater setting softens their authority, allowing the city to feel permeable and dreamlike. Rather than offering a fixed symbol, it leaves open the possibility of a civilization learning to move with the world around it.
