COPPERFIELD LARK

At the threshold between rooted stillness and open air, Copperfield Lark holds a moment of release without surrendering its sense of direction. The bird is already moving beyond the field, yet the broad landscape remains present behind it, suggesting that freedom may begin not with escape, but with a newly discovered horizon.

The bird’s outstretched wings give the scene its immediate energy, while the pale track winding toward the distance introduces a quieter counterpoint. It seems to belong to the same unfolding movement - a route through familiar ground that gradually becomes an invitation beyond it.

Above the fields, broken daylight gathers among the clouds, allowing hope to feel earned rather than merely announced. The open sky carries a touch of drama, but the atmosphere never becomes threatening; it enlarges the small act of departure into something spacious and deeply affirming.

What remains most compelling is the balance between motion and belonging. The lark does not vanish into an abstract elsewhere: its flight is framed by cultivated land, hedgerows, and the measured sweep of the valley. The work holds that tension gently, making ascent feel less like abandonment than a fuller way of seeing where one has come from.
