COPPER CLOCK - FRAMED

Around its measured circle, Copper Clock turns time into something weighty, ceremonial, and faintly unsettled. Its Roman numerals suggest order, yet the concentrated mechanisms at the center imply that every orderly passage depends on forces we cannot fully see. The work holds together the authority of an antique instrument and the atmosphere of a relic whose purpose has outlasted its original moment.

The hands do not simply mark an hour; they suspend the question of whether time is moving or merely being counted. Against the darker surrounding field, the clock seems less like a household object than a threshold between human systems and the larger pressures that wear them down. Its copper and bronze register as aged rather than nostalgic, carrying the suggestion of use, endurance, and accumulated consequence.

What gives the image its dramatic pull is this tension between precision and ruin. The circle promises completion, while the surrounding fragments resist any sense of perfect order, as though memory has gathered around the mechanism without resolving it. The result is a meditation on the desire to measure change, even when change remains impossible to contain.
