COLOR STREET PARADE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across an ordinary civic thoroughfare, Color Street Parade turns public movement into a slyly theatrical procession. Four elongated musicians advance with the solemn coordination of a band that has stepped out of familiar human logic, their box-like heads lending the scene a charmingly mechanical poise. The instruments become extensions of this peculiar fellowship, carrying music forward even though no sound can be heard.

The procession’s energy is less about celebration than about shared momentum. A double bass, brass instruments, and a guitar bind the figures into a single rhythm, while the pedestrians behind them continue on their own paths, only partly drawn into the spectacle. This distance gives the scene its wit: the extraordinary passes through the everyday without asking permission.

Behind the musicians, a pale classical building lends the street a sense of civic ceremony, yet the performers remain cheerfully unruly within it. Their vivid clothing and exaggerated proportions suggest characters from a parade remembered in fragments - familiar enough to welcome, strange enough to resist explanation. The result holds festivity and solitude together, as if companionship here depends on marching in the same direction rather than looking alike.
