CLOCK TREE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Among tangled branches, time becomes a living presence in Clock Tree, suspended between the natural world and a place of dream. The watches do not simply measure passing hours; gathered throughout the canopy, they suggest moments held in suspension, each face carrying its own private interval. Their golden glimmer draws the eye into the tree’s shadowed interior, where time feels less like a sequence than a mysterious landscape.

The work’s tension rests in the meeting of cool blue foliage and warm amber radiance. Against the surrounding stillness, the watches appear almost like small awakenings, offering fragments of human order within something older and less certain. The contrast gives the scene an atmosphere of enchantment without making it entirely comforting.

At the center, the branches turn around a dark recess that can feel like both shelter and unknown depth. This hollow complicates the tree’s welcoming abundance: the same structure that cradles light also conceals what cannot be read. The hanging chains gently connect the visible world to that obscured interior, as though memory itself had taken root there.

The scattered watches create no single shared hour. Instead, they allow the painting to hold many kinds of waiting - anticipation, recollection, and the pause before change. Warm circles among the upper branches intensify that sense of suspended possibility, leaving the woodland poised between an enchanted refuge and a place where time has briefly lost its authority.
