CAT GAME - oil painting on canvas by Leonid Afremov

CAT GAME — A lively gathering of four cats unfolds around a small central object, transforming a tabletop scene into a vivid moment of shared curiosity. Pale gray, orange, cream, and darker mottled coats create a varied feline ensemble, while warm highlights draw attention to their faces and the activity below. The mood is playful yet dramatic, with each figure contributing to the sense of animated concentration.

Angular, mosaic-like brushstrokes build the cats from energetic planes of deep blue, violet, orange, gold, cream, rust red, turquoise, and green. Two cats occupy the foreground while two more appear behind them, forming a close semicircle around the center. Scattered light-colored rectangular pieces with colored markings suggest a game in progress, and a small upright warm-toned object anchors the tabletop. Dark surroundings intensify the bright, expressive color contrasts and partially abstracted forms.

This colorful cat scene brings character and movement to a game room, reading nook, studio, or eclectic living space. Its compact central arrangement rewards close viewing, while the textured surface and bold palette create visual energy from across the room. The combination of recognizable feline forms and expressive abstraction makes it an engaging choice for cat lovers and collectors drawn to theatrical, contemporary-looking imagery.
