BUSINESS PEOPLE IN THE RAIN - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

BUSINESS PEOPLE IN THE RAIN — A lively procession moves through rain beneath a canopy of overlapping umbrellas. Several adult figures stride across the scene in dark trousers and light- to medium-toned jackets, with some carrying bags or cases. The central light-coated figure draws the eye, while darker companions frame the composition and create a sense of movement.

Expressive figurative brushwork gives the scene its restless urban energy. Cobalt and pale blue mingle with white, gray, orange, ochre, yellow, red, burgundy, black, and deep purple in strongly heightened patches of color. Thick, directional strokes define clothing, umbrellas, the abstract background, and the reflective surface below. Fragmented contours and bright diffuse illumination make the rain-soaked setting feel immediate rather than precisely geographic. Colorful reflections echo the figures and umbrellas along the lower edge, adding depth and rhythm to the wide horizontal arrangement.

The broad composition suits a wall that benefits from horizontal movement and vivid color. Its recognizable rainy-day subject pairs easily with contemporary, urban, or eclectic interiors, while the visible brushwork offers close-up texture and visual interest. Energetic yet atmospheric, it brings the feeling of people crossing wet pavement into a room without relying on identifiable landmarks.
