BROKEN RITUAL - FRAMED

At the edge of returning, where familiar streets become briefly unrecognizable, Broken Ritual gathers the feeling of a nightly passage interrupted by wonder. The narrow street seems to hold its breath between departure and arrival, while warm windows offer glimpses of human presence without revealing the lives within. Above them, the flowering tree bends into the scene like a remembered gesture, lending the darkness a sense of recurrence rather than simple shelter.

The work’s strongest tension lies between the cool nocturnal distance and the insistent warmth gathered below. Reflections break the windows’ glow across the wet pavement, as though the street were trying to preserve what the buildings can only momentarily offer. This mirrored light makes the scene feel less like a fixed destination than a place encountered again and again, each return altered by expectation.

Yet the ritual remains broken. The receding facades and interrupted reflections suggest that familiarity does not guarantee belonging; even a beloved route can become strange when seen at night. The blossoms suspended over the passage soften that uncertainty without resolving it, leaving the street poised between welcome and withdrawal, memory and immediate presence.
