BROKEN ORDER - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the heart of its restless geometry, Broken Order turns the idea of fractal growth into a meditation on structure under pressure. The form seems to expand and divide at once, holding together a sense of radiance and rupture without settling into either. Its energy is not chaotic in a simple way; it suggests an order that has become too dynamic to remain still.

A pale central opening anchors the composition, while pointed forms press outward in overlapping directions. This movement gives the work a concentrated intensity, as though something contained has begun to exceed its boundaries. The center remains a source of coherence, but the surrounding shapes continually challenge its authority.

Deep blue and violet space extends around the central force, allowing the brighter passages to feel suspended in a larger, almost cosmic expanse. Scattered light marks punctuate that field with a delicate irregularity, keeping the atmosphere from becoming purely solemn. They feel less like decoration than traces of motion continuing beyond the image.

The work’s drama lies in its refusal to separate fracture from vitality. Burgundy, magenta, and rose gather along the expanding forms, lending the outward movement a feeling of urgency, while the cooler surrounding tones give that urgency room to echo. What emerges is an image of instability that remains generative - a broken pattern still capable of becoming something larger than its original design.
