BROKEN OBJECT - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across a field of fractured urban rhythms, Broken Object turns the skateboard into a sign of motion interrupted. Its diagonal position suggests a moment after momentum has ended, yet the vivid deck refuses stillness, holding the charge of speed, risk, and improvisation. The work feels less concerned with the object’s use than with the tension between an active culture and the hard ground that receives it.

The skateboard’s bright, irregular color fields give it the character of something assembled from competing impulses. Orange, pink, yellow, green, and red gather without settling into a single mood, making the board seem celebratory and unsettled at once. It carries the restless optimism of the street, where identity is often declared through movement and style.

Around it, the broken bands of the surrounding ground create an atmosphere of incomplete signals - part pavement, part construction zone, part remembered city. The pale strip beneath the board offers no clear stability; instead, it heightens the sense that the object has been caught between departure and return. Even the exposed wheels seem poised between practical function and suspended possibility.

That pause gives the work its emotional force. The skateboard is recognizable, but its context remains open, allowing it to stand for interruption without becoming an emblem with only one meaning. It may suggest a failed attempt, a deliberate rest, or the instant when freedom meets consequence. The composition leaves that distinction unresolved, preserving the vivid tension of a life briefly off balance.
