BOY WITH REAL KITE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Against the breadth of unsettled sky, Boy With Real Kite finds a poised connection between a child’s stillness and the distant lift of the kite. Seen from behind, the figure offers no readable expression, allowing the raised hand and taut line to carry the work’s feeling. The moment is open-ended: part concentration, part release, with the horizon held beyond the frame of the child’s attention.

The diagonal string gives this quiet scene its inner movement, drawing the gaze upward while preserving the child’s grounded presence on the sandy expanse. A narrow tail trails beneath the kite, suggesting that freedom here is not separation but a fragile exchange between weight and air. The surrounding clouds gather in broad, shifting forms, making the sky feel expansive without becoming theatrical.

There is also a gentle solitude in the child’s position, softened by the sense of purpose held in that small gesture. The dark shadow beneath the figure anchors the scene, while the kite remains just far enough away to belong to possibility rather than possession. What endures is a suspended interval in which attention travels outward and the world seems briefly responsive.
