BOY AND KITE - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Between the open shoreline and the immense blue of day, Boy and Kite considers freedom as something both released and held. The child’s small figure, seen from behind, stands at the meeting point of earth and water, connected to the red kite by a line so slight it almost disappears. What rises overhead is not wholly separate from the child below; its movement depends on attention, balance, and a willingness to remain rooted.

The kite’s long tail travels across the sky in a loose, wavering path, giving the air a visible rhythm. Against the pale clouds, its red form carries a note of daring, while the child’s stillness suggests concentration rather than solitude. The scene preserves that particular suspension of childhood, when looking upward can feel like an act of discovery and the horizon seems open to whatever may follow.

Near the water, small waves gather along a low, steady boundary, grounding the image in the present. Above it, the broad sky offers no fixed destination, only distance and possibility. The work lingers in the interval between control and release - the hand remains below, the kite moves beyond reach, and both belong to the same current of air.
