BONECHAIR REST - FRAMED

Suspended between repose and reckoning, Bonechair Rest turns the familiar promise of a rocking chair into an encounter with time’s refusal to settle. The seated skeleton does not appear caught in collapse; its reclined posture carries an uneasy composure, as though rest has outlasted the body that once sought it. Warm light gathering around the skull and ribs gives this stillness a grave, almost intimate presence.

The chair’s angled structure draws the figure toward the viewer while keeping it enclosed, making the scene feel less like a spectacle than a private interval. A hand lying along the armrest suggests habit without restoring the person behind it. In that small gesture, the work holds open a tension between the ordinary rituals of comfort and the knowledge that no ritual can preserve us.

Against the near-black surroundings, the pale bones become less a warning than a measure of what remains when identity has been stripped to its most enduring outline. The turned skull seems to acknowledge something beyond the picture, while the rocking chair continues to imply motion that never arrives. The result is darkly contemplative, balancing macabre humor with a solemn awareness of stillness.
