BLUE BENDAY DREAM - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

Across a field of midnight blue, Blue Benday Dream turns movement into a language of currents, intervals, and return. Its sweeping forms do not settle into a recognizable world; instead, they suggest a suspended passage through thought, where direction is felt before it is understood. The bright cyan arc gives this passage a sudden lift, drawing the eye onward without offering a final destination.

The composition gathers force through its overlapping bands, which seem to fold around one another like paths crossing in an inner landscape. Repeated pale dots punctuate the darker shapes with a measured pulse, balancing the work’s momentum with a sense of contemplation. Nothing here appears entirely fixed: each form seems to emerge, recede, and reappear according to the shifting attention of the viewer.

Near the lower right, a small light mark feels almost like a trace left at the edge of this ongoing movement. It lends the abstract field a delicate human scale without turning it into a story. The cool blues remain expansive, yet the layered arrangement holds them in tension, creating a dreamlike space that is active rather than still.
