BIAS - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

BIAS — An energetic abstract painting built from sweeping color and forceful directional movement. Broad pale forms cut diagonally across a dense field of saturated marks, creating a dramatic sense of momentum from the lower left toward the upper right. The composition balances luminous passages with deep, grounding shadows, inviting the eye to move continually across its layered surface.

A bright cream-and-peach sweep dominates the left-center, extending toward the lower edge, while a vivid orange-and-yellow passage rises through the center-right and upper-right. Around these larger forms, short dabs and angular slashes in blue, teal, green, red, yellow, black, and charcoal create a richly textured border. High-contrast pale yellow, cream, white, and peach strokes generate the painting’s brightness without a distinct depicted light source. Thick-looking, gestural brushwork gives the surface an expressive, impasto-like presence, while intersecting marks heighten its intense visual rhythm.

With its dynamic diagonal structure and bold color contrasts, this work can energize a contemporary living room, creative workspace, entryway, or gallery-style arrangement. Its dramatic palette pairs naturally with neutral interiors while offering enough layered color to connect with expressive, modern decor. The interplay of light forms and saturated surrounding marks makes it especially compelling when viewed from across a room, where the sweeping movement reads as a unified burst of energy.
