I would like to present my hand painted oil on canvas painting (recreation) of the artwork BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE. I made this piece with the same amount of soul and emotion just like the first original painting. This piece is created with oil paint on artistic canvas using my unique technique of a palette knife. The artwork has texture, you can feel the strokes by touching the painting. By purchasing on this site, you are buying directly from the artist Leonid Afremov. I guarantee your satisfaction and the best customer experience.

The certificate of authenticity will include the name of the owner who purchased the piece of artwork. The certificate is signed by Leonid Afremov. If you buying this painting as a gift, please provide us the name of the gift recipient for the certificate. We can also ship to the address of the recipient of your gift.

about this painting:

BEFORE THE PERFORMANCE

Classic paintings – modern twist

Ballet is one of the greatest art types that inspires and fascinates at all times. Tireless explorers of body language and human capabilities, ballet dancers spend years perfecting their skills before they feel confident enough to venture onstage . They flutter gracefully before the astonished viewers making breathtaking leaps and revolving like white tornados. The energy of the dance can be felt even if the performers are frozen on the canvas.

Edgar Degas, one of the best-known creators of classic paintings devoted to ballet, left a priceless heritage of splendid pictures depicting realistic and very vivid scenes of famous performances. He didn’t idealize the art trying to depict only its beauty and grace. Ballerinas appear on Degas canvases during their dance classes, rehearsals, primping and in other characters that are usually hidden behind the theater curtains.

The same approach is illustrative of Leonid Afremov. His ballet-focused paintings introduce us to the usual life of a ballet dancer. But this doesn’t diminish the importance of his artistic message. The game of colors and contrasts, the intricate pattern of palette knife strokes, the unique style of the artist – all this gives a modern twist to the classic theme revealing new sides of beauty and inspiration.

Ballet on canvas

Gentle and fragile onstage, persistent and strong off stage, a group of beautiful ballerinas is going to take the audience by storm.

  • They are warming up and whispering to one another, chuckling and cheering each other up.
  • But soon their careless behavior will be merged into complete concentration and readiness to amaze.
  • One step forward – and they turn into butterflies, light like feathers.
  • Hearts of viewers skip a beat.
  • The greatest of shows begins…

The ballerinas depicted on the canvas look like beautiful fresh asters in their bouffant skirts. Snow-white dresses highlight the warm skin tone and the gentle, feminine silhouettes of the heroines. There is nothing extra in the look of the young dancers: decent classic dresses, chignons, panty-tights, ballet shoes. Nothing can spoil the image of lightness, transparence, grace and elegance. Dancing asters have to show their best this night, even though their performance takes place on canvas! Testimonials
I'm not a art lover type but I saw one of your works online and I just got hypnotized. I never felt anything like this looking to a picture. The vibrant colors and rain. So happy and so sad. I just bought one for my girlfriend. Greetings from Netherlands.
