BEFORE THE HOLIDAY - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

BEFORE THE HOLIDAY — A vibrant floral scene unfolds across a dark, richly colored field, where luminous blossoms rise above a reflective water surface. White and yellow flowers provide striking points of light amid deep blues, greens, oranges, and reds, creating a dramatic yet lush visual rhythm.

Dense, expressive brushwork builds the composition through overlapping angular color patches and thick, distinct impasto-like strokes. Several pale stems curve gracefully from the brighter blossoms, while the lower section breaks into elongated reflections of white, yellow, orange, blue, and red. The mirrored surface adds movement and depth, extending the floral forms into a lively band of color. Strong contrasts between the navy background and radiant highlights give the scene an energetic, atmospheric presence.

Its rich palette and visible texture make it a compelling focal point for a living room, dining area, entryway, or creative workspace. The interplay of flowers, stems, and water reflections brings botanical energy indoors while offering enough layered detail for continued viewing. Dramatic color contrasts suit interiors that welcome expressive art, and the blue-and-gold accents can complement both darker furnishings and warm neutral surroundings.
