about this painting:

SOMERSAULT 2

In a somersault leap

In his painting named Somersault similar to the ones painted in Italy in the epoch of renaissance, the artist Leonid Afremov managed to show all the beauty, elasticity and gracefulness of the female body. The main theme of the artwork is the naked girl depicted in the center of the painting. It is made in the colors traditional for the artist – thus, the naked girl is depicted on the background composed of the bright smears of yellow red blue and blue paints. The elasticity of her body is amazing. She can be compared to a gymnast performing a jump over a fixed bar – we can imagine how she held her breath, recollected herself, took a step back, gathered her thoughts and started running as fast as possible towards the fixed bar. And now she is at her destination, she takes off the ground and like a bird flies into the sky. Indeed, in the painting we see that her hands are like wings. She unclenched her fingers so that her hands would allow her to hold the body in the air as long as possible. And here nothing holds her on the Earth any more. She literally flies. And it seems that time has stopped. She is able to hang in this position for ages. Her body is surrounded by streams of air. It seems that the most intense of them blows right under her back - in fact it is bent like a cat's back. On the one hand directly under her body we see a small concentration of light blue colors - we can compare this spot with the airflow that helps the girl to hold in flight. But on the other hand the smears are directed to the other side - from the right upper corner of the painting to the lower left one. And the blue strokes in this composition act as a kind of cloud. Feel the lightness of this picture and the feelings that the artist wanted to convey to us.

Plasticity is above all

Exercises in acrobatics can be static, when an athlete makes complex elements without movement, for example, bridge and dynamic ones - when exercises are made in motion, however static exercises, for example, stances, can be the basis for dynamic ones - wheels, bends and others. Complex tricks can be made up of different single static and dynamic exercises, for example, a flip flop consists of a somersault and a twine, rundata somersault – of a stance, wheel and somersault. Acrobatic elements are mainly used in sports, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, but also they are part of sport acrobatic dances, circus performances, parkour and even martial arts.

Dynamic acrobatic exercises include:

  • roll-over
  • somersault
  • flip flop
  • somersault arcs.

Static acrobatic exercises are:

  • stance
  • bridge
