AZTEC STAR GRID - Oil Painting On Canvas By Leonid Afremov

At the meeting point of order and ornament, Aztec Star Grid turns symmetry into a meditation on concentration, with every direction returning the eye to a guarded center. The design feels less like a fixed emblem than a visual system, where balance is continually rebuilt through repetition, interval, and measured tension.

A small diamond holds a circular rosette at the core, giving the surrounding forms something inward and quietly magnetic to orbit. Gold, cream, brick red, and slate blue emerge against the deep brown-black field with the character of fragments gathered into a single ceremonial language.

The four pointed extensions lend the composition a compass-like reach, yet the repeated chevrons and nested angles keep that movement contained. This tension between expansion and enclosure gives the work its contemplative force: it suggests a world seeking direction without surrendering its complexity.

Closer attention reveals how small marks and borders prevent the geometry from becoming impersonal. Each section carries a slight change of emphasis, so the whole remains disciplined but never mechanical - a structured image with enough variation to reward lingering attention.
