An encounter with mortality unfolds through Ancient Space, where a solitary dark presence stands between the viewer and an immense, unsettled sky. Its irregular rise suggests the grim reaper without reducing that figure to a literal character; it feels more like a boundary, a force that interrupts passage and asks the gaze to linger. Beyond it, a warm band at the horizon opens briefly through the surrounding violet darkness, giving the scene a sense of departure rather than simple finality.
The pale crescent above does not soften the atmosphere so much as widen it, placing the foreground presence within a scale that feels ancient and unknowable. Horizontal bands recede toward the central glow, as though distance itself were being measured against an approaching silence. The work holds darkness and illumination in suspension, leaving mortality less as an ending than as a threshold between the visible world and what lies beyond it.
