A Little Discourse of the History of Parga

Parga is a wonderful resort town that was built in the shape of amphitheatre. It offers a breathtaking combination of picturesque mountains covered in emerald green olive gardens and a blue clear sea with  gorgeous  sandy beaches. It has been known since the 13^th century and initially was built on the top of the mountain. Later, in 1360, it was moved it to the place where it is now located. Local people built a beautiful fortress there in order to protect themselves from attacks of other nations. Parga was one single Christian settlement in Greece where Christians could hide.  In 1797 it was ruled by the French, then later by the British and in 1917 it finally became a free Greek town after Greece won in the wars.

Present Day Parga

Nowadays Parga, like some kind of magnet, attracts hundreds of tourists every season because of its breathtaking scenery and wonderful beaches.
