about this painting:
On the jazz paintings of Leonid Afremov you can find cats playing different musical instruments. This painting shows a cat playing a trumpet. As always, the background of the painting is made in the form of multi-colored brush strokes that fill the entire canvas. We find this feature in one more element of the painting – the cat musician extracts the whole flow of such strokes from his trumpet. In the painting dominate orange, brown and turquoise colors. At first glance, it’s a rather strange combination. But not for Leonid Afremov's paintings! Here you can find even more exotic colors. And all of them are surprisingly well in tune with each other. The brightest yellow colors are concentrated at the trumpet. It seems that the instrument is so hot that flames fly out of it.
The artist managed to masterfully show the epoch with the help of the musician's clothes – he is dressed in an old-fashioned costume consisting of jacket, tie, shirt and trousers, and a bowler hat on his head. Strongly holding on one his ear, it gives the musician additional elegance and makes the ordinary cat a real dude and dandy.
Tension of music
As soon as the canvas shows a trumpet musician, we have an excellent reason to tell you some interesting facts about history of this musical instrument:
- The trumpet is one of the oldest musical instruments. The references to the oldest instruments of this type date back to about 3,600 years BC.
- Trumpets existed in many civilizations - in Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, Ancient China, etc., and were used as signaling tools. The pipe played such a role for centuries until the 17th
- In the Middle Ages, the trumpeters were present in any troop. Only they could quickly signal an order of the commander to other parts of the army, which were at a distance.
We hope that you will be able to hear the sounds of cat jazz through this magnificent painting. You will certainly want to go to the jazz club and listen to the good old jazz compositions, which invariably return us to the era of the 19th beginning of the 20th century.
