about this painting:
Probably each of you knows an unforgettable feeling of loneliness during a walk around the night city. It was such a walk that Leonid Afremov depicted in his painting Traffic Light of a medium size. In this painting we see a lonely person standing in front of the house - maybe it's a store, maybe some other institution that he just left – we don’t know for sure. It seems that it is in vain for him to wait for the last bus and he will have to go home on foot despite the drizzling – an umbrella in his hands says that it’s rather bad weather outside. The street delineated by lanterns stretches far beyond the horizon. The lanterns lined up so that we can’t see the end of this line. The sidewalk and road flooded with rainwater merges together. In puddles, the bright light of the streetlights is reflected. And on the dark blue sky to the left we see two bright red spots. Their origin is open to guesswork. But in any case they look quite ominous and apparently do not promise anything good.
And so the man under the umbrella is waiting for something. Maybe it's a bus, but it's also possible that it could be his companion who lingered in the very institution that is opposite him. And then she can carry off his way home and he will not feel alone anymore. The world will be filled with new colors for him, for example, with the same bright colors that fill this street. The painting is called "Traffic Light" - it is quite possible that this light is kind of hope for our character.
Many people think that the most rainy place in the world is London. This is not true. In fact, England is not the rainiest country, even in Europe. Below is a list of the ten most rainy places on Earth:
- Lloro is a municipality and a city in Colombia. According to estimates based on the records of the meteorological station installed in the city, this area has an absolute annual rainfall record in the world - 13,300 mm in average.
- Mawsynram is a settlement located at an altitude of 1400 m above sea level in northeast India. This village, together with the city of Lloro and Cherapundji, is considered one of the most rainy place in the world. Here the annual rainfall amounts to 11 872 mm.
- Cherapunji is a small town in the Indian state of Meghalaya. It is located on the Shillong Plateau, north of the border with Bangladesh at an altitude of 1313 m above sea level. Along with the village of Mawsynram and the city of Lloro it is the third most rainy place on Earth. Here the annual rainfall amounts to 11 777 mm.
