about this painting:
Sun of January – Set of 4
The painting of four
This work of Leonid Afremov is a rather unusual phenomenon – it is in fact another version of the painting of the same name, just divided into 4 parts. By the way, it has the same size, so if you have already chosen the January Sun canvas, and this size suits you, then there is no doubt about the choice of this painting either – you will find rather few sets among Leonid’s paintings. Having received the canvas, you will be able to assemble it like a puzzle and it will give you the same pleasure as the integral painting. It will surely give you delight because it depicts a surprisingly beautiful winter landscape – a pine forest bathed in the rays of the setting sun. It just sets and not rises because the light from the setting sun only such can create a color – in the morning and in the evening the sky is painted in different shades, although at first glance they seem to be the same. Here every shade matters and, of course, not every artist is able to portray the sunset, so that we can say with confidence that this is a sunset, not a dawn. But, of course, Leonid Afremov, a master of landscapes managed to emphasize every shade. All the colors in this painting, as well as in all the other paintings, seem to be very vivid and very well convey the state of nature, one of the great number.
Sunrise or sunset?
Looking at most of the paintings it is very difficult to find the difference between sunrise and sunset. The both positions of the sun are very similar in color, and one cannot be completely sure of what is shown in the painting if it is not visible whether the sun sets or rises.
And yet, most people associate dawn with colder, softer and brighter colors, and sunset – with darker, warmer, and more saturated ones. Technically speaking, this is not the namely so, but that’s what happens in most cases.
So if you want to paint a sunrise, add to your palette such colors as:
- yellow,
- bright orange
- pink
And if you want to portray the sunset, then use the warm and dark saturated shades of colors such as red, orange, purple and lilac.
We hope that you also will be able to feel this state and that this canvas will give you strength and energy for all your affairs.
