about this painting:
Spring Stream
Green Brook
In Spring Stream we don’t find an open sea, but a green forest and a crystal clear brook. This reveals the second part of the name of the collection – water. So we understand that the artist manages to equally well depict different types of reservoirs existing in nature, ranging from the vast ocean to a small stream like this. We know that the artist's favorite time of the year is autumn. Instead of the name in this canvas we also find autumn colors, but not as bright juicy as in other autumn paintings. The thing is that in this painting, we deal with a bizarre play of light. The sun illuminating the leaves makes them yellow. It is a very beautiful sight. The water in the stream is very fresh and transparent.
In the center of the painting we see a small cascade. The creek spreads quite wide as it usually does in spring. But now it is rather dry in the forest. So we can assume that this is its usual state. Water flows smoothly; we see a slight bubbling down the cascade only.
Water Element
Water is a main element of not only the painting being also honored by all the religions and doctrines. Thus, according to the Feng Shui doctrine the image of water element, located in the residential decoration, is able to attract harmony, health and composure, even well-being and happiness to the house. In this doctrine of great importance are such water reservoirs as:
- fountains
-waterfalls
-rivers.
It is believed that these forms of the element of water are living energy that is in constant motion. Lively, swift and changing, water invariably improves the emotional environment in an apartment or house, the current flow can instantly transform the vibrations of invisible energetics in your house.
Feng Shui practitioners also claim that even a photo or a drawing of a waterfall or even a brook carries this powerful charge of living energy. Therefore, you should not be upset if the dimensions of your living space do not allow you to hang a big canvas on the wall but be sure that the Leonid Afremov’s painting will perfectly suit any apartment.

A sense of returning clarity gathers around Spring Stream, where the forest seems to make room for water without surrendering its quiet depth. The shallow current moves forward with measured energy, suggesting renewal that is present but never hurried. Sunlight catches the foliage in scattered golden passages, giving the scene an inward brightness rather than a theatrical display.
The reflective pool introduces a pause within that movement. It holds the dark verticals of the trees and the shifting greens above them, so the boundary between what is solid and what is passing becomes gently uncertain. The small cascade below feels less like an interruption than a change in tempo - a brief liveliness within an otherwise composed rhythm.
What lingers is the balance between freshness and age: clear water, rooted trunks, and a season whose warmth is already touched by deeper autumnal tones. The scene can be read as a place of restoration, but its calm is not empty. It carries the subtle insistence of the stream itself, continuing through shadow and light, asking nothing except attention.
