I would like to present my hand painted oil on canvas painting (recreation) of the artwork LION. I made this piece with the same amount of soul and emotion just like the first original painting. This piece is created with oil paint on artistic canvas using my unique technique of a palette knife. The artwork has texture, you can feel the strokes by touching the painting. By purchasing on this site, you are buying directly from the artist Leonid Afremov. I guarantee your satisfaction and the best customer experience.

The certificate of authenticity will include the name of the owner who purchased the piece of artwork. The certificate is signed by Leonid Afremov. If you buying this painting as a gift, please provide us the name of the gift recipient for the certificate. We can also ship to the address of the recipient of your gift.

about this painting:

LION

The most majestic of all animals

Traditionally, a framed artwork depicting a lion is considered to be a tribute to power of the king of beasts. However, the most exacting people would say that it’s wrong. Lions are not the biggest animals, even inside the cat family. They are, obviously, not the strongest. So why bother? It’s just a big lazy cat.

We would dare to disagree, though. Lion may be inferior in size or power, but it definitely doesn’t lack grandeur and pride. This majestic cat is a symbol of quiet confidence and self-respect. So let’s agree with the artist who depicted this majestic lion with due respect.

Purely animalistic art?

If you’ve been searching for a framed work online for quite a while, you’ve probably seen dozens of conventional lions depicted in the middle of a dry savanna. But this one is absolutely different. Leonid Afremov’s paintings are always ambivalent. Take this lion, for example. With all its grandeur and kingly look, it seems so tender and – we dare say – affectionate! Just like this delicate flower it’s looking at, the king of beasts appears to be very vulnerable. If we keep on contemplating this beautiful animal, we will find it thoughtful and wise. These traits are usually attributed to people, but can we tell for sure there is nothing human about this lion? Can’t it also stop and stare at something beautiful thinking about its fragile nature and the brevity of life, like we do?

What will this picture bring to you?

With this framed artwork, home decor gets to a new level. Wonder why? Here are some reasons:

  1. You don’t just hang a pretty picture on the wall – you get a real piece of art, and its value is going to grow with time.
  2. Being a unique work of art, this picture will help express your personality and views, as well as yourindividual style.
  3. This lion painting may become an impetus to go deeper into art (if you are not a gallery-goer yet). Such works of art inspire people to learn more, and that’s great!

It doesn’t matter whether this is the first original artwor kyou’ve purchased or not, but if it is – well, perhaps it’s a great start for a collection?

I just got Blue Sail, Evening, and Little Bridge and they are all 3 spectacular. I love the vibrant colors and they have really made my condo special. They are even more special than in the online pictures. Terrific!

I first discovered Leonid’s work on DeviantArt and fell in love with his use of warm and cool colors. After purchasing my first piece for my office at work, I’ve become addicted to his paintings. His technique leaves a beautiful texture on the canvas, and he truly captures the reflections of light on the rain-covered walkways. Everyone who comes into my office stops to admire his work!
