about this painting:
What is this, a still life, a portrait, a loony hybrid born in somebody’s overstimulated imagination? The painting doesn’t say. All it says is “Bottle Jazz.” So let’s pour some booze and watch, shall we?
Freaky bottle show
When the bar closes and the musicians go home, the bottles at the counter come to life and start playing their own bizarre music! Slouched at the piano, jolly fellow Jim Beam strikes groovy jazz chords nodding his cap in time with the rhythm. His best friend and notorious bully Jack Daniels grabs a shabby sax and starts improvising to the tune, delightfully conscious of his own irresistibility. Gonna give him some credit, he really jazzes it! In the remote corner of the bar, an anonymous bottle of Irish whiskey, new to the menu, produces a trumpet and risks joining the duo with a splash of shrilly sounds that gives their music an unexpected avant-garde twist. He obviously has a bright future ahead! Other drinks chill out in their chairs smoking cigars and enjoying the show. Filled with surreal colors of an alcohol-soaked mind, the painting traps us inside a crazy dream where giant scotch bottles drink their analogues from identical bottles of a smaller size and throw jam sessions through the night.
