This painting looks tridimensional and has a lot of heavy textures

Where Sand Rests opens on a stone lantern trail, with a tea bowl and whisk held in the foreground like a visual anchor.

Light is placed in clear value blocks so the composition stays readable. Depth comes from overlapping planes rather than fussy detail. Soft atmospheric haze separates planes and prevents the scene from feeling busy. Negative space is used on purpose, letting the composition breathe.

Underneath, snow white with cobalt shade is tempered by subtle neutrals so the focal point stays clear. The scene lands as minimal and contemplative, a quiet moment shaped by light and space.

The design favors paintability: clear silhouettes, big value shapes, and texture that implies detail without demanding it.

The brightest paint sits on the focal object, while the background stays looser and more abstracted to preserve depth.

Directional knife marks subtly point toward the subject, creating movement even in still scenes.

Texture is emphasized through ridged impasto that catches light and gives the surface a sculptural feel.

Soft reflections appear where they make sense—water, glass, polished stone—kept broad and easy to execute.
