The autumn boulevard depicted in the painting of Leonid Afremov surprises and enchants. The magical atmosphere of the autumn evening is transmitted through the canvas.

In the painting we see a boulevard stretching to the horizon and two even stripes of street lanterns all along it. The basis of the painting, its plot consists of the figure of a person walking along the boulevard, although we can hardly make out its outlines - it's impossible to tell whether this is a man or a woman, in what he or she is dressed. But actually this is unimportant because the emptiness around him or her,  the boulevard  desolate of inhabitants,  the night atmosphere of the autumn city quite accurately convey his or her mood. The painting is literally penetrated with melancholy and romance. It is first of all created by the trees that cover the celestial vault with their crones dressed in colorful autumn leaves. This foliage plays with amazing colors – in the places where it is touched by the light of the lanterns, it gets gold, it seems that here it is ready to ignite, then moving away from the light it becomes orange and then red, and where it is touched by the night sky it gets an unusual color - purple, and in some places even emerald blue.
