VIOLET TREE BY THE POND presents a cityscape built around a purple tree arching over the street, set in a bright city avenue at night with reflected color and simplified architecture. The image follows a very strong Leonid Afremov-inspired direction, using thick palette-knife texture, heavy impasto, glowing reflections, and broad painterly color masses. The defining idea is the unexpected use of color: buildings may glow green, trees may turn purple, a dog may appear bright red, and windows or trams may shine in turquoise. These unusual color choices keep the painting decorative, fresh, and eye-catching without losing the readable city structure.

turquoise, emerald, scarlet, orange, violet, and luminous blue shape the mood of the scene, while pond reflections, benches, and tree canopies help build the urban setting. The foreground subject remains clearly readable and acts as the visual anchor, while the rest of the city stays luminous, expressive, and simplified enough for a strong palette-knife look. The result feels imaginative and bright rather than dark or literal.

This painting would suit a living room, hallway, office, studio, or bedroom interior, especially for buyers who want a cityscape that feels recognizable but more original than standard street scenes. It works well as a focal piece because the unusual colors immediately attract attention while the city reflections and structured composition keep the image balanced.

The mix of bold texture, expressive light, and unexpected color placement helps the city feel playful, modern, and unmistakably decorative.
