Plank Scene Cobalt opens on a rainbow-painted fence plank, placed boldly in the foreground of a roadside van stop so the scene reads instantly.

Midground forms stay simplified and graphic while texture carries the nuance. Motion implied by angled strokes shape the midground without clutter, keeping edges clean and paintable. Magenta and teal with deep navy dominates, with controlled darks and bright accents guiding the eye. Overall it reads as playful and dreamy, more atmospheric than illustrative.

Kept paintable with bold patterns and simplified forms for knife strokes. Thick palette-knife ridges remain visible throughout, keeping the work tactile and suited to impasto.

Directional knife strokes subtly follow form, reinforcing motion and volume.

Small accent notes are used sparingly to avoid repetition while keeping energy.

Background areas dissolve into layered gradients so the focal subject stays forward.

Where reflections appear, they are simplified into a few bright strokes for clarity.
