TAXIDERMY CROW CORNER is less about polish than about presence. A mounted crow near stacked books carries the visual weight, but the painting gains character from the larger world of a cramped curiosity shop, which is described with enough specificity to be believable and enough simplification to remain expressive.

The scene is arranged interior vignette with shelves closing in tightly. This gives the eye a firm starting point and then lets it drift into secondary forms, where edges soften and colors merge. Instead of minute realism, the picture uses broad relationships of shape, value, and temperature.

The atmosphere comes from dim side light from a narrow street window. That illumination activates the chosen hues of black feathers, sepia, dust gray, bottle green, pushing some notes into brilliance and others into muted recession. Because the transitions are built with a knife, each passage keeps a slight resistance that makes the light feel material rather than merely optical.

As an object, the painting would be compelling at close range. The impasto stands proud of the surface, catches changing room light, and leaves a visible record of decision-making. That visible construction gives the image energy and keeps it far from generic decorative art.
