about this painting:

The cradle of civilization

A place with powerful energy

The Land of Promise, Israel in other words, attracts thousands of tourists with its religious, historical and cultural sites every year. It is a considered to be the cradle of civilization and a birthplace of three religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. It is a small country surrounded by forests, seas, mountains and deserts. This country has been sobbed-out and hard won by the Jewish people. However, one can hardly overestimate the value of this place. Every religious person needs to visit Israel some day and feel its powerful energy and blessing atmosphere.

The Wailing Wall, or the Western Wall as the Jews themselves call it, is the main religious site and a Judaic sanctity in Israel. Every day it gathers thousands of people who come here to pray, make a wish or just look and touch a piece of history of all humanity.  The Wailing Wall got its name from the Arabs who saw Jews come there and mourn over their destroyed sanctities. You can feel a very powerful energy coming from the Wall and it makes you want to come back here over and over again. People of any religion can go there- there are no restrictions on that. However, there are several rules:

  1. A man has to wear a yamaka (a little cap). If you don’t have one, you can take it at the entrance for free and put it back after you’re done.
  2. Men and women pray on different sides of the Wall: the right side is for women and the left one is for men.
  3. When you leave the Wailing Wall, you can’t turn your back to it.

An interesting tradition

Did you know that you could leave a note with your dearest wish in the Wall and it will surely come true? Even if you don’t have a chance to go there yourself, there are Israeli volunteers who can take your note and put it in the Wailing Wall. Where did this tradition come from? There is a legend, that long time ago one wise man wrote a letter to God and asked Him to give fortune to one young man. Then he asked that man to take it to the Wall and insert it between the rocks. Soon enough fortune smiled upon that young man. Since then thousands of people come to Jerusalem every year to leave this short but so important note to God. To some people it gives their last hope; others come here to get their lost faith back; and for someone the Wailing Wall is the place to pour out their soul to the Lord. Every Jew strongly believes that no matter how far they are from their motherland, if their thoughts and prayers are looking to the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem, they will definitely be heard by God.

I just received my two paintings yesterday (just one month after I placed my order). I could not be happier!!! My husband and I have been working on our house for the past 6 years, and we finally finished our living room. It needed some love and colors on the walls. Once we put them up (as soon as we got them) it just brighten up the room, it looks gorgeous. I feel so luck I have found you Mr. Leonid. Your art is just beautiful and makes me so happy just to look at them. Love how you over came the difficult times and now you can share your art and talent with us. Feel very special to have your two paintings on my walls. I will definitely order more in the future! Thank you!!!!!!
