about this painting:

‘The center of the Universe’

Thousands of passengers, drivers, workers and tourists meet at this place every day. Times Square, or as it’s sometimes called ‘The Crossroads of the World’, stands for a large entertainment and commercial center. The area is famous for Broadway Theater as situated at the junction of Broadway Street and Seventh Avenue. However, there are other notable landmarks nearby including

· Disney Store

· The Hard Rock Café New York

· Paramount Theater

· Church of Saint Mary the Virgin

· MTV Networks

Owing to a great amount of neon ads and billboards, which adorn the square, its image became the symbol of New York’s active life. It’s been used in literature, art, films and video games. Times Square in this very painting looks bright too, though depicted at night. We see city lights, tall buildings under the rain and an almost deserted street. Leonid Afremov portrays one of the busiest pedestrian areas in the world in the quiet hours. Such an original decision!

One rainy night

The citizens of Midtown Manhattan can sleep well tonight. The rain scared the crowd and sent everyone back home. Only the bravest left outside – there’s a couple strolling along the street. Their silhouettes are hardly visible against the background of multicolored puddles. The water is like a huge mirror that reflects the neon lights and enlivens the whole cityscape. For this purpose Afremov has chosen a vivid palette. He skillfully combines various hues: red, orange, yellow, brown, blue and even green. In fact, this riot of colors became a distinguishing characteristic of his works. Though in the 19th century impressionism was presented by thin brush strokes, modern artists developed new interesting techniques to better emphasize pictorial

structure. Leonid prefers to apply thick strokes, using a special instrument – a palette knife. As a result, his oil paintings look three-dimensional, thus realistic and sensual. What’s more, the aim of impressionistic art is to reveal not a story but a certain emotion. The image of Times Square by Afremov is peaceful, warm and seasoned with the naughty rain which turns everything into a fascinating dance of light and drops. If you’re fond of travelling, exploring the city in any weather, if you like New York and its atmosphere, this iridescent canvas will make you forget about daily troubles! It will bring you comfort and positive memories! To live these wonderful moments of happiness every day, purchase this painting by Leonid Afremov! Hang it on the wall and astonishment of your guests is guaranteed!

Today I bought one of your paintings, and believe it or not it was the first time in my life, at age 42, that I have ever bought a painting. It wasn't the specific painting that inspired me but rather the artist. If I could afford it I would decorate every wall of my home with your paintings. Thank you for sharing your art.

We received our painting "Melody of the Night" in December and have only just got around to posting this testimonial. We are over the moon with it especially as it was to celebrate being married for 20 years. Every day we get a buzz when looking at it and I am sure we will be buying more in the future.

My gosh was this work exceptional.
I was afraid to open it and it stood in my living room (in the most temperature-median spot) for a week before bringing it to a professional framer. I was blown to pieces by this work once I saw it at the framers. It was incredible and I am SO proud to have purchased it. I spent $500 to get it framed and w/acrylic to protect it. I'm blown away and cannot wait for my other original (not remastered) Rainy Day, AND it's bonus painting, (artist's choice). I don't care about the latter as they're ALL brilliant! I cannot thank you enough, Sir and Inessa as well for securing Rainy Day for me exclusively.
