about this painting:
THE LOVELY TRIO
The power of jazz
Jazz is a revolution. You can hear it in every note coming out of shiny funnels and resonating between tight strings. You can see it in the sparkling eyes of musicians as they connect their minds into one perfectly coordinated rhythm machine. You can feel it in the air literally charged with electricity. In one word, this is jazz. And it can make your feet dance even if the band is playing on a piece of canvas.
Meet the band
Just look at these lads. You could have easily passed them in the crowd without paying attention. But when they hit the stage and take their instruments, you can really feel a special vibe coming from each of them:
- Gently touching the beak with his lips, the frontman is weaving an intricate solo that sinks to the bottom line of your hearing range only to explode with a cascade of hoarse squeals an instant later. His fingers are scurrying up and down the instrument unerringly as if it was a continuation of his own body. Drawing a deep breath, he fills his lungs with a firework of sounds ready to pour it down on the cheering crowd.
- Bassist is the backbone of the band. His job is to add weight and volume to the music and keep it together with a groovy rhythm that makes your body and mind move in time with the strokes of his fingers. Focused on the tune that plays in his head, the guy on the right spurts out a series of short snappy sounds that bounce all over the place like a bunch of tennis balls, heavy, distinct and contagious.
- Playing drums in a jazz band is nothing like wild hard-rock hammering or primitive pop beats. It requires variation, punctuation and sophistication. Armed with a pair of chafed sticks and a subtle sense of rhythm, the drummer’s hands are moving swiftly and deftly like the legs of a spider – and sound as if there were just as many of them! Breaking up the pattern with odd strokes and accentuating the best parts with hip splashes, he occasionally breaks out into a mind-boggling solo.
Jazz on your wall!
Using an eye-catching portrait painting technique, the artist pulls us into the scene literally making us hear the lovely trio in bright strokes of color that come out of their instruments and fly around them, overwhelming and random like jazz itself. This portrait painting will make a great addition to your home décor and give you a charge of positive emotions each time you look at the canvas!
