about this painting:
THE END OF PATIENCE
What do we need to feel happy? You may hear many answers to this question, but the majority of them will be about time. We believe that we would have been much happier, if we had had more minutes in a day. Usually we plan more things than we can do, and we have to do a lot of work, travel from one side of the city to another, and still lack hours that we could spare to something pleasant. People haste and rush to obtain as much goods as possible, often forgetting to stop and ask what they really need. The most precious things are hidden in our daily routine, because we are blinded by the desire of new emotions and more money.
Time is an abstract notion, but we do our best to measure it by seconds, minutes, days, years… We think that in this way we can control it, but it doesn’t allow applying any borders. Only heaven knows how much time do we have before we pass away, however, we still believe that we are the only hosts of our lives. But the reality shows that we are only slaves, the slaves of almighty time. At first it tics out our childhood, then youth; gradually it makes all memories, both sad and happy, vanish from our mind. Moreover, it is proclaimed that even love lives three years, so this terrific feeling is also under time’s spell. Everything will come with the flow of time and be washed away by its powerful hands.
It is believed that time is a perfect doctor for our souls, because it helps us forget about unrequited love, unpleasant events, terrible events and horrible accidents. But this is only half true, because all those things are accurately hidden in the depth of our brain, and when you see something or hear, those memories will inevitably come back to you. But it would hurt less, the eternal doctor promises that.
And the most amusing thing about time is that it can last differently, according to your state of mind. For instance, if you want a certain moment to stop, time will fly extremely quickly, and your happiness will go in a blink of an eye. On contrary, if you want a certain date to come quicker, or your desire of meeting a dear person is unbearable, minutes are so long, as hours, and the needed moment seems so far away, as a dream that will never come true. And everyone will agree that there is nothing in the world more deadly, than waiting for something, when you can't help the situation.
Those hourly minutes of waiting
If you ask about the most stressful thing in the world, you will probably get an answer that it is waiting. If you are a punctual person, then people around you will definitely be late, as a rule. A meeting with such a person can drive you crazy, but what would you say about a romantic date? It is widely known that women like to be late, because they spend too much time for preparations. Of course, only men think so, for ladies are never satisfied with the result. So, the sterner sex knows this peculiarity, and is ready to wait as long, as possible. But are women always late?
Imagine that you are waiting for the person you love. You are anticipating this date, how the tender hands of your beloved one will warm you and promise happiness. But what will happen, if all your expectations are in vain? If you are waiting for the person you love and met a thousand times before, then you can simply call and inquire about the reasons of your beloved one's tardiness. But if it is a blind date, and do not know how your new friend looks like, and all you can do is just to imagine your meeting and hope that your date will come. For how long are you going to wait in this case? If these words have sense to you, then this great painting by Leonid Afremov has a huge sense for you.
The dates aren’t always happy
Today is the day of your dreams. You are excited, because in few minutes you will meet a person, whom you know a couple of days, or, maybe, weeks, but it seems to you that you know each other for ages. You have tried dozen of outfits in order to pick out the best dress and amaze the man you like. When you finally find the perfect image, you can’t sit still and decide to set off. When you see the bench, where you arranged your date, you realize that you came a bit earlier. But you are ready to wait, so you sit down on the bench in the park, and start counting the minutes. However, your clock makes one round after another, but the person doesn’t show up. Minute are flying, and you’ve seen at least a hundred of people that are strolling in this wonderful park. Still, you can’t see the silhouette that makes your heart beat like crazy. There are dozens of happy couples that are heading to the cafes, where they can enjoy their public intimacy. You would be glad to follow their examples, but you keep waiting, for you strongly believe that your date will come. But it’s getting darker, and you are still alone. It starts raining, and you decide that you’ve had enough. You pull thought together, trying to imagine an ideal excuse for him, but you fail. You smile gloomily to yourself, and wonder whether he really liked you, or you were just wishful thinking? You could solve all your questions by making a call by yourself, but you are too proud to impose yourself. Soaked and sad, you are leaving this place that became deserted, as your betrayed heart.
What attracts us most in this sad modern painting?
This touching canvas may leave a sense of light sadness, but you can find a lot of appealing traits in it:
Great trunks look so elegant, dressed in bright leaves. They are so impressively lit by the street lights that they change their palette to blue and even purple. Surely, you haven’t seen anything alike.
Tall street lamps are bringing you back in time, and making this cityscape magical by adding golden shades to everything.
The white tunnel in the end of the road is reflected on the wet asphalt and bring the feeling of hope.
A slender lady in a coat and with an umbrella in her hand lets you guess how she feels about this evening; whether her gait is deliberate or she is leaving this charming park unwillingly?
Plenty of ideas about the destination of this lady, and the belief that she will somehow meet the person she loves, even if he failed to show up this evening.
Modern Impasto technique makes this canvas really outstanding, and a palette knife cuts out all your illusions about usual cityscape.
If you hang this painting on your wall, you will be admiring the great picture, full of vibrant colors, and you will always have what to think about, completing each time a new story about this lonely woman. And it will be up to you to decide whether to make her happy, granting a meeting with her Prince Charming, or separating them forever with a tiny misunderstanding. Hopefully, you will have happy days, and all your stories will have the same bright ending, as the alluring colors on this canvas are!
