about this painting:
Somewhere in medieval Europe
Narrow medieval streets of the old town beckon with its mysteriousness, smell and sounds of crafts, tragedies experienced, hustle and bustle of traders. The stone pavement, the absence of gaps between the houses, cause special, unfamiliar sensations of the surrounding unreality – all these submerges us into the atmosphere of the old town making this picture unlike the most similar paintings.
Walking along the street
To fully enjoy the charm of the town, you should walk along its fortress wall, admiring the views, then take a stroll through the narrow and winding streets, stop and view the old houses with adorable forged and wooden balconies. Be careful! Here you can easily get lost and lose yourself, being bewitched by the charming atmosphere of the Middle Ages, preserved here in the best way. There are less than a hundred inhabitants in this small village. However, they can be envied, because they live in a stunning place, where, it seems, time itself slowed down its run.
What makes this town authentically European?
- Narrow streets, they are so characteristic for the medieval Europe
- Gas lanterns hanging on the walls
- The arc itself in the foreground
Guess the country
In the foreground of the picture is an arch that opens a view of a winding street. The artist, as it were, makes us wonder what will be if we go farther along the street. Some elements of the picture are as if done carelessly, but in reality it is all one of the details of the artist's plan to immerse us in an atmosphere of mystery and romance. If we think about what the country tried to portray the artist, the very first thing that comes to mind is Spain, but in fact the picture was painted by Leonid Afremov in the Czech Republic. In this picture, the artist uses such characteristic colors as blue yellow shades of pink and white. These colors convey an elated and romantic mood reigning in the streets of such small European towns.
