about this painting:
The green eyes
All the beauty of the cat world is shown in the painting called Max by Leonid Afremov. At us looks a cat's face with green eyes. And this is namely a face and not a muzzle. Leonid, a big cat lover, tried to portray his character in the brightest colors. This primarily refers to the image of the background – in it he used such colors as yellow, red, violet, blue, white many others. Inked with thin strokes, they all look quite harmonious. For the image of the cat itself, the artist used violet shades – it is obvious that they best replace gray that would look too dark in this colorful painting. Perhaps the most expressive element of the painting is the green eyes of the cat, and if you look closely you can see that they reflect the blue shades of the strokes covering the canvas. The smooth straight lines of white thin whiskers rush in different directions, going beyond the canvas. Also in the ears of the cat you can see thin white hairs – an element that the artist used to make his image more realistic.
In the cat’s world
And of course, since the painting is dedicated to the cat, we have prepared for you some interesting facts about cats that you might not know:
- The ancestors of our cats, unlike the ancestors of dogs, hunted for small prey. That is why cats usually eat a little, but several times a day.
- Cats hunt, even if they are not hungry. As part of the KittyCam project the scientists from the University of Georgia noticed that cats eat their prey in 28% of cases only. The rest of the victims are left by them or proudly brought to the owners.
- The huge eyes relative to the body are due to the need to hunt in low light conditions. However, this size of the eyes makes it difficult to constantly refocus from close objects to the far ones and back.
For cat lovers such a canvas will be just an invaluable gift that will bring their most intimate dreams to life. Be sure that this painting will occupy a central place in their fictional or real gallery.
