about this painting:
Lake of hope
Despite the autumn
Despite the fact that the painting depicts the favorite for Leonid Afremov time of year – autumn, it is called Lake of Hope. This means that the artist sees in this beautiful time not only a reason for despondency and sadness but instead of it a kind of light of hope. Indeed, why not? Why should autumn necessarily be identified with fading, wilting and other negative trends? Leonid Afremov offers us a glimpse of this beautiful time of year with a completely different perspective. For him, autumn is another reason for hope for something better and his painting just emphasizes this mood. Thus, he portrayed a small and cozy bridge in some park. Surely you have met many similar bridges in similar places in your life, and the image depicted might seem to many of you very familiar. The colors in which this autumn landscape is depicted are worthy of special attention. For his paintings, the artists chose very soft colors - shades of gray, yellow and green. They are a little bit in contrast with the name of the painting. They may seem even pale. The gray sky is about to pour the cold autumn rain. Leaden clouds hang over the yellowed forest that is preparing for the rain. In a couple of days, the leaves that are now green will also turn yellow and it will get much colder. The yellow foliage is gently reflected in the ideally smooth surface of the pond. It is absolutely calm. But this calmness is deceptive. The strong gusts of wind are about to raise and shatter all this calm. But now we have the opportunity to enjoy this silence and splendor of the autumn nature which gives us a ray of hope for the coming of the next spring when the Lake of Hope will be freed from the ice and on its impeccable smooth surface the new generation of ducklings will be swimming slowly again.
There is a huge number of lakes on our planet. We bring to your attention the rating of the most unusual lakes in the world:
- Morning Glory Pool in Yellowstone changes its color from dark purple to pale turquoise, and sometimes turns green.
- Lake Kliluk (the famous Spotted Lake) is located in Canada, near the city of Osoyoos. Due to the fact that Kliluk contains(in comparison with other lakes) in its composition the largest number of mineral substances, the summer evaporation of water on it leads to the formation of bizarre islets. Depending on the mineral composition and season, these spots are colored in different shades.
- The lake Pustoye (Empty) located in Altai region is completely desert – there are no grass, no birds on the shore, no fish.
