about this painting:
City to fall in love with
Leonid Afremov has created many contemporary wall art paintings that can become excellent adornments for your home. Cityscapes take a big part of such wall art paintings. We are looking at one of them. It’s thebeautiful city of Copenhagen.
Copenhagen is one of the biggest cities in Denmark as well as its capital. It’s mainly located on three islands: Zealand, Amager and Slotsholmen. Slotsholmen is considered to be the historical part of the city where the first settlement was located. On one hand, Copenhagen is a quiet city with a beautiful cityscape. On the other hand, it’sa lively metropolis and a financial center. Streets of Copenhagen are full of street musicians and artists and illuminated by thousands of glowing lights of shop windows, restaurants and bars’ signs.
Copenhagen and its suburbs offer a wide range of entertainment:
· Restaurants and cafes serving different cuisines;
· Museums and art galleries with the most recent collections of contemporary art as well as historical exhibitions;
· Botanical parks and gardens with lots of beautiful trees, bushes and flowers which are being taken good care of;
· One of the longest walking streets of Europe called Stroget is also located in Copenhagen. It is the perfect place for people who like shopping;
Copenhagen is also famous for its cultural events such as spring Night Film festival, summer jazz festival, or a famous Copenhagen Carnival covering the streets of the city with the music of samba and bright costumes. However, by morning all the streets are cleaned and filled with the smell of freshly-baked bread everywhere.
Copenhagen is a merchant harbor with a romantic soul. Probably this is why Leonid Afremov as a truly romantic person likes this city very much. This also could be a reason why he decided to paint a night city. Copenhagen is considered to be a contradictory city. It manages to combine quietness and peace with extreme liveliness. We can see that the painting is divided into two parts: the first one is full of people having fun in cafes on the bank of the canal, and the other one depicts the calm river with two lonely boats and represents the quiet side of the city. Having used bright colors, the artist has made the painting look very festive.
