* how to design your apartment,
* how to properly hang paintings.

Otherwise, supposedly, we’ll lose our Google rankings.

Think about that paradox for a second.

Big websites are basically forced to write:

* “10 Best Interior Design Tips,”
* “How to Decorate Your Bedroom,”
* “Designer Secrets for Living Rooms.”

Why?

Simple.

So you’ll find their website.

Google reads these articles and says:
“Oh, useful content.”

And then pushes the website higher in search results.

Alright then.

There are no laws about:

* which one belongs in a living room,
* where blue should go,
* where green should go,
* where bright paintings belong,
* where dark paintings belong.

You can read this nonsense on thousands of other websites.

I’m not here to feed you fake designer wisdom.

I don’t need it.

And honestly, neither do you.

# If You Love the Painting — Then It Belongs There

It’s actually very simple.

Do you like the painting?

Do you want to wake up and see it on your wall?

Then it belongs in your bedroom.

Do you enjoy eating while looking at a still life painting?

Does it make you hungry?

Perfect.

Then it belongs in your kitchen.

Do you want to hang a painting in your living room because it makes you feel good?

That’s already enough reason.

Honestly.

All this:

* “white table here,”
* “red couch there,”
* “this color palette is trendy,”
* “this style is modern” —

most of it exists for one reason only.

To sell you something.

If not paintings —
then furniture.

If not furniture —
then rugs.

If not rugs —
then your attention while you sit on somebody’s website looking at ads.

They tell you:

* how your house should look,
* how you should dress,
* what watches are fashionable,
* what a man should look like,
* what a woman should look like.

Why?

So you:

* buy,
* spend,
* buy again.

That’s all it is.

Frames should still somewhat match.

* another in a white frame,
* another in a gold frame,

all hanging next to each other —
it can start looking messy.

So ideally, frames should stay within the same general style.

That’s probably the only real design rule I actually believe in.
