about this painting:
The Art of Ballet
Every branch of art has its own means of telling about people, their feelings, worries, thoughts, about different events in history or those that are happening in the world now. They can be real or fictional. Every form of art is imaginative in its own way. Musical theatre, opera and especially ballet, are probably the most imaginative ones. Why ballet? Simply because even in opera they use songs. It’s easy to understand words but it’s different in ballet. There are no words in it. It consists only of dances that form the whole performance. These dances can tell one about different events and the state of mind of the characters. It can tell without words by using only gestures and body movements.
Nothing unusual seems to be hidden in this painting. However, if you give it a closer look, you get the impression that it’s like a single picture of a silent movie. The ballerina is frozen for a moment in a typical ballet position. She is wearing point shoes. Her head is lifted up. She is ready for the next dance move. She is going to spin in a circle and give a new flow of feelings and emotions. The artist didn’t pay much attention to the face painting. Maybe he wanted to say that the emotions of her face are not as important as the ones of her body? The background of the canvas is very fascinating. It changes from light blue to almost black and in some places purple. Let’s look at the ballerina’s dress. It’s a beautiful white dress with a tutu skirt. Can you see something red and orange on it? May be that is how the artist wanted to show the passion the ballerina dancing with? It’s coming from deep inside of her. Every person should have this kind of passion while choosing a job or a hobby.
What attracts us in this oil painting?
- A spellbinding ballerina with her beauty and passion;
- A sapphire blue background with a lot of shades of blue. The ballerina’s snow white dress looks especially advantageous on such a background.
Face painting as a genre of art is very painstaking and time-consuming. We hope you will see the true value of this canvas.
