about this painting:
Bipolar Liberty Corner
The night city
Before our eyes, there is a rather amazing painting by Leonid Afremov named Bipolar Liberty Corner in which the artist depicted the corner between two streets in some European city, the view typical for his paintings. Apparently, this is a fairly large city in which the architecture and planning are preserved. It's very similar to Paris or some other French city.
In the painting we see the intersection of two streets – one descends from above and adjoins another, the wider one, an avenue illuminated by bright lanterns. You can’t help noticing that the painting is divided into two parts by colors – blue and orange. Such an unusual palette makes the painting rather queer and different from the other paintings of the artist. Let us reflect on the meaning of these colors. On the one hand, on the two parts we see lanterns, but some for some reason the ones colored the street in blue and the others –in orange. On the left, they emit cold while on the right, on the contrary – heat. Thus, the same lanterns have completely different light. And it's no surprise that the characters of our painting, a man with a woman standing on the sidewalk, chose the right side, where the street is flooded with orange light. But a few meters only separate them from the realm of shadow and cold. Perhaps, these two tourists have lost their way in the night city and are examining the map trying to find their way home.
Travelers are inspired not only by accommodation facilities, but also by local design features (44% of respondents according to a survey held by a site). According to customers from all over the world, in order to see a unique design you need to go to the following cities:
- Helsinki (Finland)
- Copenhagen (Denmark)
- Eindhoven (Netherlands)
- Graz (Austria)
- Milan (Italy)
According to the survey, one of the most relevant styles in the design of interiors was the style of “Scandinavian asceticism”, which scored 53% of the votes. This style is characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality, as well as attention to the details, a minimum of accessories and a maximum of sunlight. Clear lines and streamlined forms can be traced both in Scandinavian architecture and in decor. Not surprisingly, the leaders of the list are Helsinki and Copenhagen – the cities, which are considered to be the capitals of Scandinavian design. In Helsinki you can find many examples of a unique design.
Looking at this painting you will certainly want to find yourself in this amazing city, but still probably on its bright side, although some of you may prefer blue color and you will find it more romantic and unique. We wish you only the most positive emotions and enjoyment of this painting.
