about this painting:

Bipolar Liberty Corner

The night city

Before our eyes, there is a rather amazing painting by Leonid Afremov named Bipolar Liberty Corner in which the artist depicted the corner between two streets in some European city, the view typical for his paintings. Apparently, this is a fairly large city in which the architecture and planning are preserved. It's very similar to Paris or some other French city.

In the painting we see the intersection of two streets – one descends from above and adjoins another, the wider one, an avenue illuminated by bright lanterns. You can’t help noticing that the painting is divided into two parts by colors – blue and orange. Such an unusual palette makes the painting rather queer and different from the other paintings of the artist. Let us reflect on the meaning of these colors. On the one hand, on the two parts we see lanterns, but some for some reason the ones colored the street in blue and the others –in orange. On the left, they emit cold while on the right, on the contrary – heat. Thus, the same lanterns have completely different light. And it's no surprise that the characters of our painting, a man with a woman standing on the sidewalk, chose the right side, where the street is flooded with orange light. But a few meters only separate them from the realm of shadow and cold. Perhaps, these two tourists have lost their way in the night city and are examining the map trying to find their way home.

Urban design

Travelers are inspired not only by accommodation facilities, but also by local design features (44% of respondents according to a survey held by a site). According to customers from all over the world, in order to see a unique design you need to go to the following cities:

  1. Helsinki (Finland)
  2. Copenhagen (Denmark)
  3. Eindhoven (Netherlands)
  4. Graz (Austria)
  5. Milan (Italy)

According to the survey, one of the most relevant styles in the design of interiors was the style of “Scandinavian asceticism”, which scored 53% of the votes. This style is characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality, as well as attention to the details, a minimum of accessories and a maximum of sunlight. Clear lines and streamlined forms can be traced both in Scandinavian architecture and in decor. Not surprisingly, the leaders of the list are Helsinki and Copenhagen – the cities, which are considered to be the capitals of Scandinavian design. In Helsinki you can find many examples of a unique design.

Looking at this painting you will certainly want to find yourself in this amazing city, but still probably on its bright side, although some of you may prefer blue color and you will find it more romantic and unique. We wish you only the most positive emotions and enjoyment of this painting.

I have three prints of Mr. Afremov, and I must say that they are the most beautiful works I have ever had the blessing of laying eyes on. I would love to someday be able to afford a print of the one featured today that is reminiscent of the colors of the Russian Autumn, as that is my favorite season. Thank you Mr. Afremov for sharing your gift with the world. If there is anyone reading this that has not yet had the pleasure of owning a painting or print thereof of this gentleman's works, I highly recommend you give one a try. His shipping is fast and items are impeccably wrapped. You will become a lifelong fan, I guarantee it!

We are the proud owners of 45 of Leonid's master pieces and counting! Our latest acquisition is the exquisite and rare Somewhere in Israel. It just arrived and it is glorious. Ordering a paining of a place where you actually lived is always risky as your appreciation of the painting is going to reflect your own experiences and memories. Amazingly, Leonid captures everything so incredibly well: light, color, texture, architecture, plants, even the color of earth, pavement, and houses. We have a full collection in every room. The paintings are new every time you look at them, because you see a figure or a face or an animal hidden in the palate strokes you somehow missed before. Amazing! Pure genius. Modern day Chagal!! Thank you Boris and David for fantastic customer support. Waiting on the Sun of July. I'm sure it will be as amazing as everything else.

Leonid, I have been admiring your art since high school. I recently purchased one of your paintings for my newlywed sister because I couldn't think of a more special gift for her. The painting is more gorgeous and stunning than I could have ever imagined. Thank you so much brightening the world with your wonderful artistry.
