about this painting:
The last smile of autumn
Most people find autumn to be dull and listless. But any time of the year is characterized by its own unique charm. In the middle of autumn, when leaves already start turning yellow and red, but days are still warm and sunny, it is so good to have a quiet walk in the park, all on your own, enjoying the miraculous transformation nature is going through. In this beautiful oil painting on canvas, we see a young girl making her way down the park alley lined with colorful trees and blooming flowers. She is wearing light summer clothes, unwilling to admit the delicacy of early autumn will soon be gone followed by cold rains and dark evenings. Did you notice anything unusual about her? She is actually barefoot! The entire painting was created for the sake of this little detail as suggested by its name. Isn’t that romantic?
Why is the girl barefoot?
The first question that comes to mind isn’t about the nature depicted on the painting or the place where the artist takes us. We want to know who is that girl, what is she doing in the park and why is she walking barefoot. Can you come up with any ideas? Perhaps…
- Driven by a suddenurge to feel the last warmth of the ground with bare feet, she took off her shoes and continued the stroll carrying them in her hand.
- She is coming back from a date with the man of her dream, and as we know those in love often do crazy things like that.
- The shoes were simply rubbing her feet and she had to get rid of them at the risk of catching cold.
As you can see, there are plenty of possible explanations, but regardless of the version you prefer, the picture remains just as charming as it was the first moment you saw it. Don’t you want to be in that park as well and join the girl on her way into the enigmatic blue mist on the horizon with your own shoes swinging carelessly in your hand?
Oil on canvas – art for your home
This piece of art is great in many respects. The rich palette of colors including very tender shades of crimson, violet, blue, green and peach mixing together high in the sky, the way artist lays oil on canvas in small contrasting taps, the cheerful and dreamy mood it evokes in us – everything makes us admire its delicate beauty and inexplicable charm. This oil painting on canvas by Leonid Afremov will fill your room with color and romance and keep inspiring you even after the trees shed their leaves and the park sinks into a long winter sleep.
