about this painting:
BALLET OF THE SOUL
Human body is beautiful, graceful and expressive. For centuries, people have used the language of dance to project their emotions into rhythmical moves and steps that can sometimes be more convincing than the loudest words. In love with beauty and inspiration, Leonid Afremov couldn’t ignore the theme of dancing in his paintings. This exquisite canvas depicting a young ballerina will make a great acquisition for every modern family and a splendid décor item for your home!
From the history of ballet
Ballet was born in the 15th century merely as a form of court dance. Pretty soon, though, it moved into the concert halls of France and Russia. Technically sophisticated and delightfully refined, ballet has engendered a great number of other dance genres. Many contemporary dances are in fact based on traditional ballet figures. There are many varieties of ballet as well:
Classical ballet is the core of this beautiful art. It is traditionally divided into the Italian, French and Russian branches that differ slightly in terms of techniques and philosophy.
Neoclassical ballet uses the vocabulary of the classical forms, but departs from the tradition in its abstract treatment of plot, costumes and scenery. This type of ballet encourages intellectual involvement of the viewer leaving a lot of space for interpretation.
In a similar way, contemporary ballet enriches the fundamental techniques of the genre with modern, jazz and ethnic elements. It is a highly experimental school that attempts to erase the boundaries between various styles.
No matter what type of ballet you are into, having this amazing portrait of a dancing ballerina in your room will lift your mood and inspire you to new achievements! After all, it is painted by Leonid Afremov!
Look at these fine, delicate strokes! They seem to be flying together with the dancer! Circling in a swirl of warm sepia colors, she resembles an old photograph that came to life. With her hands spread like the wings of a bird and her entire body strung like a wire, the ballerina is balancing on the very tips of her toes – a fascinating unity of grace and strength. So tender and fragile, her body is a perfectly trained machine that performs every move with mathematical precision. As you watch her soaring over the stage, you can hardly believe that human muscles are capable of doing all this. The dance, the music, the very atmosphere of the theater hall carries you away and takes you back to the day this ballet was staged for the first time. Art never ages!
