I would like to present my hand painted oil on canvas painting (recreation) of the artwork BACKWARD SOMERSAULT. I made this piece with the same amount of soul and emotion just like the first original painting. This piece is created with oil paint on artistic canvas using my unique technique of a palette knife. The artwork has texture, you can feel the strokes by touching the painting. By purchasing on this site, you are buying directly from the artist Leonid Afremov. I guarantee your satisfaction and the best customer experience.

The certificate of authenticity will include the name of the owner who purchased the piece of artwork. The certificate is signed by Leonid Afremov. If you buying this painting as a gift, please provide us the name of the gift recipient for the certificate. We can also ship to the address of the recipient of your gift.

about this painting:

In a somersault leap

In his painting named Somersault similar to the ones painted in Italy in the epoch of renaissance, the artist Leonid Afremov managed to show all the beauty, elasticity and gracefulness of the female body. The main theme of the artwork is the naked girl depicted in the center of the painting. It is made in the colors traditional for the artist – thus, the naked girl is depicted on the background composed of the bright smears of yellow red blue and blue paints. The elasticity of her body is amazing. She can be compared to a gymnast performing a jump over a fixed bar – we can imagine how she held her breath, recollected herself, took a step back, gathered her thoughts and started running as fast as possible towards the fixed bar. And now she is at her destination, she takes off the ground and like a bird flies into the sky. Indeed, in the painting we see that her hands are like wings. She unclenched her fingers so that her hands would allow her to hold the body in the air as long as possible. And here nothing holds her on the Earth any more. She literally flies. And it seems that time has stopped. She is able to hang in this position for ages. Her body is surrounded by streams of air. It seems that the most intense of them blows right under her back - in fact it is bent like a cat's back. On the one hand directly under her body we see a small concentration of light blue colors - we can compare this spot with the airflow that helps the girl to hold in flight. But on the other hand the smears are directed to the other side - from the right upper corner of the painting to the lower left one. And the blue strokes in this composition act as a kind of cloud. Feel the lightness of this picture and the feelings that the artist wanted to convey to us.

Plasticity is above all

Exercises in acrobatics can be static, when an athlete makes complex elements without movement, for example, bridge and dynamic ones - when exercises are made in motion, however static exercises, for example, stances, can be the basis for dynamic ones - wheels, bends and others. Complex tricks can be made up of different single static and dynamic exercises, for example, a flip flop consists of a somersault and a twine, rundata somersault – of a stance, wheel and somersault. Acrobatic elements are mainly used in sports, rhythmic gymnastics, sport acrobatics, but also they are part of sport acrobatic dances, circus performances, parkour and even martial arts.

Dynamic acrobatic exercises include:

  • roll-over
  • somersault
  • flip flop
  • somersault arcs.

Static acrobatic exercises are:

  • stance
  • bridge

I'm from China. Knowing Afremov's works for years, since in college. So thrilled to finally realize my dream. For years, I kept visiting this website, picking fav ones and reminding myself why to save money. I'm working as a freelancer interpreter now, finally saved up enough money and got three pieces (four, including one from Amazon). I've already decided which one to buy next year and started to save more. Also get the Grand Canal, my heart was taken by it. For the paintings, the Eiffel Tower one caught me the first sight while I was a student in college. My ex got me a recreation, painted by him, but cannot compare to this original piece of course. The colour and the style are beyond words. Simply cannot describe the stunning beauty (Maybe in Chinese I can). Anyway, love all landscape pieces. Cannot wait to share with my friends and decorate my room. Best wishes, Mr. Afremov. Looking forward to more pieces.

I recently purchased and received one of Leonid’s original oil paintings (Spring Emotions). The painting exactly matched the photograph that Leonid had displayed on his online store, down to every last brush stroke. It is absolutely breathtaking and I can’t thank Leonid enough for selling me this masterpiece! The customer service from his sons David and Boris was excellent; they spent considerable time with me on their online chat facility before I bought the painting and made extra effort to make me feel at ease when the delivery of the painting was delayed by an extra week due to drying issues (the original had only just been painted the week before). Living in the UK and with Leonid and his family based in the US / Mexico, it can be a slightly nerve wracking experience taking a leap of faith and buying online, without actually seeing the painting in front of you. Based on my experience, I can whole-heartedly recommend buying from I hope my testimonial encourages a few more people to buy from this wonderful artist! My special thanks to Leonid and his sons. Nick (Reading, United Kingdom).
