about this painting:

BIG BEN LONDON 2012

The symbol of Great Britain

Big Ben is one of the most famous symbols of Great Britain and there are many paintings dedicated to the place of note, for this building is truly impressive, which encourages artists to create masterpieces that are as beautiful as the source of their inspiration. This magnificent artwork by Leonid Afremov is noteworthy and is as impressive as Big Ben itself. No one will remain indifferent to this masterpiece after looking at it, for true art is able to make your feelings arise from the slumber of everyday life.

Context you might need to know

1.            This painting depicts London in 2012, and it is obviously summer.

2.            The 2012 Summer Olympics took place in London.

3.            The painting may therefore be dedicated to this solemn event.

The gaudy

In this magnificent canvas we see London plunged into the night. The Thames’s dark-bluish surface is perfectly even and calm, and mirrors the brightness of the great city. An arch-bridge girdles the quiet and deep river, and several vague figures of distant people can be seen on the bridge among the gleaming lampposts. The opposite bank enchants us with its splendour. A building stands there, large and full of the mysterious light in the windows. A distant cathedral is showing its dark cupola from behind the houses. Everything is magnificent and impressive, and yet the main decoration of the opposite bank is Big Ben that pierces the dark night air with its elongated shape and illumination. It looks majestic and sublime, so that you cannot but fall in love with this great architecture. The variegated night domes this magnificence, with thousands of lights, flashes and sparkles smashing aloft. It might be a salute, and this chaos of bright colours and lights has turned the sky into the very cosmos where new stars and galaxies are being born and let you become a spectator of the sacrament.

This magnificent artwork by Leonid Afremov will become a prefect decoration for your living room and fill it with the festive mood that was reigning in London during the 2012 Summer Olympics.

I would like to say, that these paintings are amazing. I ordered the "John Lennon" portrait for my parents and they love it. I finally ordered one for myself, "summer scent", which I also got, "Brown Bridge", free. They just arrived today and are exceptionally beautiful. If anyone is ever skeptical about the price or quality, just read the reviews. Leonid is amazing.
