about this painting:

BY THE DOCK

The origin of modern art is in the remote past

Many artworks in Australia are dedicated to the seascapes. Much depends upon the location of the painters. This country is a continent at the same time – it is surrounded with water on all sides so there is nothing surprising that link Australian art includes the marine paintings.  Being dependent upon ocean, they created artworks depicting the sea creatures and did it in extraordinary way. What is interesting about indigenous art of Australia, is that some of its features are close to impressionism though the principle that lies at the basis is, certainly, different.

Australian art history is the oldest in the world. We can notice the sea theme even on the aboriginal works.

Ancient art of the Australian region

Painting takes special place in aboriginal art in Australia. All images have a symbolic meaning. They are a means of sharing information and thoughts. Painting was not used for creativity then, and had religious and mystical significance for the entire tribe. Wildlife of Australia was usually depicted with dots of different colors. To some extent, this is close to impressionism, practiced by Leonid Afremov, though the principle that lies at the basis differs considerably: it is not a means а self-expression for them.

Afremov, on the contrary, accentuates the feelings of the painter and depicts them though it is not obvious in realistic works. The painting “By the Dock” shows boats near the dock with a beautiful sunset at the background. The sea is calm, it reflects the sunshine that is going away gradually. Stunning combination of colors on the oil canvas makes the artwork stand out. It will look great on the wall and will enhance the interior of your place.

Dot painting of aborigines as the basis of pointillism

Dot painting consists of various paint colors such as:

·                    yellow (the sun),

·                    brown (the soil),

·                    red (desert sand)

·                    white (the clouds and the sky).

These are traditional Aboriginal colors (looks like Impressionism as well). Dot paintings can be painted on anything though in aboriginal times Australian artists used to paint dot pictures on rocks, caves, etc. They painted mostly indigenous nature, creating stories and legends on caves and rocks to represent their religion. Now there is a special technique known as pointillism (painting with dots) used actively in Impressionism. Creations of ancient people prove from the remote past that this is the origin of modern art.
