about this painting:

New Orleans River

Traveling down the Mississippi

Look at this colorful New Orleans River oil canvas, a painting depicting a motor ship of the 19th century floating down the Mississippi, as this river flows near the city of. The artist managed to portray not only an amazing pre-dawn scenery but also to convey the whole color and mood of that era. As always, the painting of Leonid Afremov abounds in bright colors –a bright orange sunset casts its rays on the smooth waters of the Mississippi so that the eyes of the passengers travelling on this boat are shown a spectacular sight – the smooth river filled with bright sunshine, the scenery that can be only created by the rays of the sunset sun. The artist skillfully depicted the reflection of the ship in the river – on the smooth surface of the water we see almost a mirror copy of it. Even two straight streams of smoke rising from its pipes depicted with surprising accuracy are reflected in the water. All that is depicted in the painting looks very romantic and amazes with its paints – the sky with its gentle clouds lighted by the sun, the river, also lit by the sun rays and playing the most diverse shades, the ship itself, the lines of which are traced quite accurately. Looking at this painting you will involuntarily carry yourself in this era, in the era when there were no modern gadgets, nay, there were very few cars, people were much simpler, their worldview was radically different from ours.

It is up to you to decide whether it would be good for you to live in this era. The artist’s task is only to convey it as accurately as possible. We are sure that this painting will not only be the decoration of your house, well, it will always carry you away to the era depicted on it causing only romantic feelings.

The Crescent City

Hurricane Katrina, jazz, voodoo, carnival Mardi Gras … what do you associate with the amazing city of New Orleans? Let’s try to enumerate the most popular associations:

  1. New Orleans hosts the most remarkable and famous for the whole world carnival. Annually, before the Catholic Easter fasting, Mardi Gras carnival is held in the city. It is permeated with the circus spirit. It may well compete with Rio de Janeiro carnival.
  2. New Orleans is practically ruled by voodoo. Nowhere else in the world voodoo-culture expresses itself in the context of a well-formed metropolis.
  3. A significant part of New Orleans is below sea level, which primarily affects burial. There is not possible to bury the dead in the ground, that’s why many famous cemeteries in the city are overground: the decedents rest in crypts or just small elegant coffins.
